Sprint denied Pre's to its own customers in favor of new subscribers.
When I went to a Sprint store to check out a pre, I was just planning on playing with one. I didn't really think I'd be able to buy one at 3:30 on Saturday, but either way I optimistically asked the guy at the store if they had any in stock. He replied to my query with "are you a current Sprint subscriber?" and i responded, "What does that have to do with anything?," to which he stalled and started blankly. I then said "no, i'm not" and he said "Well then, yes, we do have some Pre's in stock."
During my sign up and set up, several people called who were sprint customers and got the "sorry, we're out, wanna get on the waiting list?" response.
It's pretty ridiculous to think that Sprint would shit on it's own customers like that. I guess it makes sense in an capitalistic greed kinda way, but it made me feel dirty the whole time I sat there (and even now). I guess that's what I have to look forward to with them. ah well, I love my pre!
I guess this could be an isolated incident with this specific retailer, but he had to call someone else at Sprint to activate my account and spoke openly about this to them, so it seems like it was company wide.
