I've been listening to the audiobook version of I AM AMERICA! (AND SO CAN YOU!), i can only assume it's always supposed to be yelled. In the chapter about old people there is a hidden message in the form of a reversed snippet of speech. I used it as an excuse to play with audacity.

I really wanted to make this autoplay, but decided against it. for the children.

Ii was unable to use the internets to ascertain who said this. But after some help someone said "I think w.c. fields said it." upon which a search told me that Mark Twain in fact said it. And that was apparently cause people thought he was dead.

However, all this new knowledge has done little to explain why you wrote this.

oops. The correct quote I should have written is"Rumors of my death have been greatly exaggerated." Paul McCartney said this after people claimed to hear "Paul is dead" when playing a Beatles record backwards.
