AIGA

Is design not important in email correspondence? You should see the countless emails i get from netflix about almost registering - they remind me that netflix will be super simple, and a bit annoying and nagging (because you'll always feel guilty for not watching movies fast enough).

Either way, this email reminds me of one thing , that there's a lot of work to be done in the design community - Starting within its walls.

as someone who's wasted countless hours making html emails compatible in a number of popular email clients i can tell you the AIGA has better things to do with their limited resources than send you a pretty reminder that you were too lazy/uninterested to finish your registration.

i'm not asking for a shiny html email - in fact, i'd prefer a plain html.

But what's with all the blue bars and the 4 colors.

oh and it wasn't my laziness or disinterest. It's that althought the website says i can "click here" to register for 4 different types of membership - i couldn't figure out (or it's impossible) to start a group membership online, so i did it via fax.

So not only is the email ugly, it's unnecessary cause i already registered.

for some reason i just assumed the blue bars were a rendering problem... not a design choice.

point taken.
